vutie beets // feature friday

the place

Based in Letchworth Garden City, a popular commuter town in Hertfordshire, this fully vegan eatery is perfectly at home; Letchworth has a thriving community of plant-based folk, ranking highly as one of the best UK towns for vegans and vegetarians.

Joint owners Paul and Harry, opened up Vutie Beets in 2019 with the aim to “to open an Eatery in Letchworth that not only offers great tasting food, but also food that is better for animals, people, and the planet” (VB). They work with local, independent suppliers and get involved in community activities and fundraising events. If that wasn’t enough - the cafe is dog friendly too, which makes it far easier for those of us with furry friends.

the food

Vutie Beets has an impressive menu which delivers on flavour and creativity. Not to mention how nicely the food is presented. Their menu offers the typical ‘brunchy’ items such as pancakes and sourdough toast, along with breakfast baps, vegan scrambled ‘egg’, toasties, salads and more. On Sundays, they even do a roast lunch; we tried this last weekend after a wet and windy walk and it was the perfect way to warm up - hearty, wholesome and delicious!

If you’re just popping in for a snack, there are plenty of buns, cakes and more to take away. And their drinks selection caters for everyone - offering smoothies, milkshakes, coffees and juices. For a sit-down brunch or lunch stop, it’s got the perfect atmosphere - grab a seat at their breakfast bar and watch passersby or opt for a larger table if there’s a few of you in a group.

On the (many) occasions we’ve visited, Vutie Beets has been lively and bustling - almost too busy to find a seat, which is a great sign for an independent business and we’re excited to see how they continue to grow and expand.
